SENSORY CENTER

Thanks to a generous donation from Ronald McDonald House Charity, CLV is able to offer a Sensory Center designed for children and adults with  Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Children with SPD misinterpret everyday sensory information, such as touch, sound, and movement and the sensory room allows them the opportunity to explore using their senses.
In our Sensory Center,

We have items to stimulate the visual system such as a bubble tube, projectors and soon will have fibre optics.

· We have a variety of items to stimulate the tactile system that provide vibrating touch or deep pressure
· We have different sounds and smells to stimulate the auditory and olfactory systems including music and aromatherapy
·We also will have in the future a Ball pool, and swing

We are excited to have this opportunity to share this resource with children, adults  and families in our community. Please see the list of times we have and those to come once we are able to enlarge our space

You can book a time to use the Center by calling Karen Green in our office at (250) 477-7231 ext 239. We recommend that you come the first few times with an Occupational Therapist to learn the best ways to make use of the center.

Events Line

On a  weekly basis we update our Events line. This is meant to be an easy way for people to call in and hear about any new things happening at CLV or directly related to supports, events or training.  Please call 250-477-7231 ext. 221 and hear what is new!
 

Resource Library

Located in our Heritage Building at our main office at 3861 Cedar Hill  Cross Rd you will find a wide variety of books and video related to supporting people with developmental disabilities.  Popular topics include: Friendship Development, Planning, Transitions, Inclusive Education, Autism and Healthy Sexuality. People are able to access the library Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  Please call Bev at 250-477-7231 ext 236 if you have questions about a book or accessing the library.
