Children and Youth With Special Needs (CYSN)

Community Living Victoria has a contract with the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) to provide one-to-one support to children and youth with disabilities who are involved in multiple service systems. Many of the children and youth in this program have had challenges related to one or more of the following: current/past drug or alcohol usage; history of abuse/neglect; involvement in criminal activities; street involvement/identification; or a co-occurring mental health diagnosis.

We focus on helping children and youth in this program to navigate MCFD, youth justice/probation, housing, employment services and other community resources. We also help them learn to advocate for themselves, improve their skills for independence, and to transition to adulthood.

To be eligible for the program, a child or youth must be referred by their CYSN or Guardianship social worker to this program.

For more information on Children and Youth with Special Needs, please contact Sherri Water Chief at 250-477-7231 local 240 or email swaterchief@clvic.ca.
