Meet Betty: “Life is more fun when you are sharing it with people”

Betty lives independently in her own apartment and spends her days working at UVIC Commons and volunteering at the Broadmead Lodge and cleaning toys at a VIHA clinic. She is proud of her volunteering and helping elderly people. She believes that her self advocacy work is important so others can hear what people with disabilities have to say.

Meet Heather: “You can always find something good in people”

Heather shares a home with her parents and works at Thrifty Foods. She is very proud of her involvement with Special Olympics swimming and having a job. She believes that Self Advocacy is important so you can learn how to speak up and get to know new people. Her future goals include moving out with a roommate.
