Community Engagements – Community Living Victoria
Community Living Victoria is thrilled to share they have received grants to conduct Community Engagement Sessions for Victoria, Sooke/Westshore, Peninsula and a shared contract with DPAC 64 for the Southern Gulf Islands under the Community-Led Collaboration Project (CLC). The passion in these communities is amazing and we are all excited for the opportunity to bring family and community voice forward.
The CLC Project is an opportunity for communities in British Columbia (B.C.) to engage in meaningful and inclusive conversations about how to create a better network of services and supports for children and youth with support needs and their families. The results from all the conversations will be part of a report to the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) with the expectation that all community reports will inform the future of services for children and youth with support needs (CYSN) in BC. All personal information is confidential.
The conversations, designed in partnership with communities, will help inform an inclusive, culturally safe, needs-based approach to providing supports and services that consider the specific circumstances of a community, the young people and families in need of support, and importantly, the voices of people not historically included.
This project aims to build on the existing strengths of community-based models and explore what truly collaborative and connected networks can achieve together for children and youth with support needs and their families. For these community conversations, children and youth with support needs are 0-19 years of age, have a disability diagnosed or undiagnosed, need support, and/or have a possible developmental delay.
Our process will include gathering information from our meetings and following up with attendees to ensure we have accurately summarized their ideas. Once we have gathered all the information from the surveys and sessions, we will conduct a solutions table to articulate recommendations for our final report which is due November 15, 2024.
