VOCYL’s Middle School Expansion Project Made Possible by Generous Funders!

April 11, 2017

Thanks to generous donations from the United Way, the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island and Island Savings/First West Foundation, VOCYL – Victoria Opportunities for Community Youth Leadership, is able to continue with the Middle School Expansion Project in Victoria and the West shore.

Because of these donations, VOCYL members both with and without disabilities, gain the skills necessary to develop and deliver interactive inclusion awareness presentations where middle school students are challenged to remove the social barriers that can lead to loneliness, bullying and cliques.

In addition to leading games, activities and discussions, VOCYL members share their own personal stories and struggles during these presentations which improves their own confidence and leadership abilities.

This unique project will reach over 800 middle school students with the important message of inclusion and belonging for everyone.

CLV and VOCYL are thankful for these grants and the poistive change in our community that is made possible because of them.
